The Urethane Supervisor will supervise, train, and coordinate activities of employees, along with ensure that quality and production standards are achieved and maintained.
Job Responsibilities
- Retrieves the list of molds to run for the day from File Maker.
- Execute daily production priorities.
- Supervise employees; this includes training, assigning daily work, monitoring employees and continuously following up.
- Follows all plant safety rules.
- Start up and shut down of plant.
- Manage and adjust production personnel scheduled as needed to ensure on-time completion of quality products.
- Investigate root cause of severe process shifts and taking appropriate corrective action to bring process back within specifications.
- Start-up of jobs as required in a timely manner.
- Troubleshoot and evaluate urethane/cast/assembly processes and make the necessary adjustments to ensure prescribed quality and production standards are achieved and maintained.
- Ensure all paperwork is completed, providing timely, detailed information in end of shift note to other supervisors, managers and departments.
- Provide detailed information via shift-to-shift hand off with oncoming Supervisor.
- Enter all production, scrap, and downtime, in File Maker at the end of the shift.
- Manage File Maker so it reflects what tools are staged, completed, and running at all times.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures (i.e., quality policy manual, associate handbook, lock out/tag out, etc.)
- Comply with the internal required safety procedures.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping in all areas of the facility.
- Forecast and run according to the urethane schedule.
- Preventive and corrective maintenance in the urethane machine.
- Set up the machine with the parameters before each project.
Education and Experience
- Education and ExperienceEmployee must have a valid driver’s license.
- Employee must have completed and passed a Hi-Lo driver’s training class and passed a written test to be administered by the Poly Flex Products Shipping Department.
- Employee must possess general math and literary skills. Some experience with Microsoft Excel and Word software would be helpful but may not be required.
- Urethane/cast/assembly background preferred with at least 3 years in a supervisory capacity.
- Be familiar with RIM machines.
- Completion of all Polyflex Products training requirements for the position.
Knowledge
- Engineering and Technical knowledge – Applying engineering principles, techniques, standards, procedures, and equipment needs to the design and development process.
- Industry knowledge – Automotive returnable and expendable packaging.
- Process knowledge – Cast urethane manufacturing processes.
- Materials knowledge – Urethanes for material selection (Engineering plastics, microcellular foam, and cast urethanes).
- Tooling knowledge – Prototype tooling cast and foam tooling.
- Supervisory knowledge – Design principles, CAD, strategic planning, coordination of design resources, prototype methods, production methods, and leadership techniques.
- Fabrication knowledge – Basic understanding of steel fabrication, fixtures, and assembly processes.
